Museums and Art
In addition to its historical character, Cibolo Creek Ranch is committed to commissioning and collecting fine art. Original paintings and small sculptures by more than 30 well-known artists including Phil Rhymer, Grant MacDonald, Gordan Brown and Kent Wallis to name a few – on are display in rooms and common areas. Large bronze sculptures by Scott Rogers and in-house museums also allow guests to immerse themselves in artistic visions of the West.
Our Museums
The watchtowers of the main fort serve as pocket museums devoted to Milton Faver, the restoration of the ranch, Texas and Mexican history as well as the challenges of early life in the area. A resorted 19th-century chapel holds an altar, benches and other religious artifacts from Northern Mexico.
Scott Rogers Bronze
Scott is a sculpting artist, specializing in creating unique ‘Old West’ and ‘Americana’ themed sculptures. As a sculpting artist, Scott’s desire is to use monumental sculpture & western art as a vehicle to inspire mankind to see the beauty of life and remember our ‘Old West’ heritage.
Scott sculpts using clay as his medium and casts these pieces into bronze. Working with the foundry, he inspects each piece, multiple times, as they make their way through the casting process. Scott uses the patina to bring out the spirit of each individual sculpture.
While walking and exploring the grounds of Cibolo Creek Ranch guests will see many of Scott Rogers Bronze sculptures such as this “American Bison,” or “El Vaquero,” “The Wrangler,” “The Trooper” and more.
Leonel (Leo) Garza Jr. Paintings
Leo Garza spent the first 20 years of his career at the San Antonio Express-News where he created political art. When that ended in 2007, Leo continued with his childhood passion, creating western art. In the last years of his life, he sold and commissioned beautiful works of art, including seven murals located in the Great Hall and the ranch Living Room showcasing various stages of Milton Faver’s life at El Fortin de Cibolo.
